LAKE PARK~GRANVILLE NEWSLETTER
July, 2008

Pastor Mark’s Remarks:

The Pastor is very busy so he has asked me to put an article in the newsletter for him.
The following is the one I have chosen.

GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION

We often hear the expression “life goes on” but we usually are referring to something within our lifetime.
It is human nature to not want to think about death, but we need to be reminded that life goes on after death
and we are in charge of our own destiny whether it be heaven or hell.
Our human nature is to be concerned about our income, health care, retirement, etc.
Everything we are concerned about in a lifetime is usually less than a hundred years.
But how often do we think about eternity? In eternity we could live several million years and still be
no closer to the end because there is no end. Eternity is forever.
God’s law says sin separates us from God and the punishment for sin is eternal death or eternity in hell.
When we die, it is only the body that dies. The part of us that knows, understands, realizes,
laughs and loves floats right out of our body and spends eternity in either heaven or hell.
But God loved us so much that he left his own son, Jesus Christ, pay the death penalty for our sins.
Anyone who confesses his sins, believes in Jesus and accepts him as Lord and Savior,
then his sins will be forgiven, remembered no more and he will have eternal fife in heaven.
And as we grow in the Christian life, you will realize that Jesus will be your best friend.
Someone you can count on to guide you through any problem or situation.
We only have to believe, have faith, and obey his commands as taught in the bible.
God tried to communicate with man for centuries throughout the Old Testament times through the prophets.
Then he came up with the plan of salvation by becoming a human being in the form of a baby, and living among us to teach us his ways.
God became one of us so he could communicate with us and then sacrifice his own life on the cross to pay for
our sins that we might have eternal file.
- J. Richard Henry

Why Go To Church:
A Church go-er wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it
made no sense to go to church every Sunday (or Saturday) "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "
and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I
can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.
It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher.
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.
But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this..
They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals,
I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible,
believes the incredible and receives the impossible!
Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

If you have a PC you aren't using and want to dispose of, please consider Computer Ministry, Inc.
Even if you don't have a PC to donate, talk with co-workers, neighbors, or other family members.
We are in the Mission Central building, 5 Pleasant View Dr, Mechanicsburg PA.
our phone is 717.766.6373. We are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am till 4:00 pm,

Bible Quiz

The names of sixteen books of the English Bible are hidden in the text of the following paragraph.
Can you find all sixteen of them?

I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu.
Kept people looking so hard for facts and for others it was a revelation.
Some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books were not capitalized.
But the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others, it was a real job.
We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot.
Others may require judges to help them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them,
and there will be loud lamentations when it is found.
One little lady says she brews a cup of tea, so she can concentrate better. See how well you can compete.
Relax now for there are really sixteen names of books of the Bible in this story.
